NELLIE Parker died on Monday, April 24 in Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 87.

She was the wife of the late Keneth and mother of the late David, Alan and Derek.

She leaves her children Albert, Kevin and Mandy, her daughter-in-law Thresa and son-in-law Daniel.

She was a grandmothe­r and a great-grandmothe­r and also leaves her sister Grace.

Nellie was born on June 30, 1929, and lived in Bacup all her life, until moving to a residentia­l home approximat­ely 10 years ago.

She worked for many years in the cotton industry and at McCleary’s Shoe Factory.

She was also a dinner lady and was married to Keneth for 24 years.

Nellie loved playing darts, dominoes and bingo and she especially enjoyed her Friday nights out dancing, and watching wrestling and black and white films.

Her funeral service, conducted by Trish Tidy, will be held at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Wednesday, May 10 at 1.40pm.

MR Thomas Fort, of Greenhill, Bacup died in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, April 26, aged 92 after a tragic accident.

A service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Friday, May 12 at 1.40pm followed by cremation at Burnley at 2.20pm conducted by Mr Peter Cox.

Born in Preston, moving to Clowbridge as a young boy where he lived until his marriage, he moved to Bacup over 50 years ago.

He was employed as an electrical engineer at Lucas’s in Burnley and also for Mullards at Waterfoot, Blackburn and Haydock. He then set up his own business 34 years ago, working until he was 88.

He was a member of the Masons at Rockyffe Lodge in Bacup, Bacup Golf Club, The Rossendale Club and he also enjoyed gardening and socialisin­g.

Husband for 59 years to Anne, who died in 2011, he leaves his son John and his partner Julie, stepgrandd­aughter Rachel and many friends.

Family flowers only are requested, with donations in lieu to Rossendale Hospice if so desired. MR Edward Thompson, formerly of Irwell House and Ash Cottage, Edenfield, died on Sunday, April 30, aged 102.

He was a ship’s steward at sea in the Merchant MRS Megan Edwards, of Cotswold House, Haslingden, died on Sunday, April 30, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 76.
