ARTHUR SEDGWICK
MR Arthur Sedgwick, of Anemone Drive, Haslingden, died on Tuesday, April 25, at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 64.
Arthur, husband of the late Pauline, leaves children Melanie, Robert, Christine and John, grandchildren Laura, Charles and Chloe and brothers George, Bill, Ken, Harry and their families.
Arthur, a self-employed painter and decorator, was born in and spent all his life in Haslingden.
He was captain of the darts team at the Rostrons Arms in Edenfield, and was secretary of the local darts league.
He enjoyed music and electronic gadgets, and loved to wander round antique shops searching out bargains.
His funeral was due to be held on Thursday, May 4 at 10.20am with a service at Accrington Crematorium officiated by David Ireland.

EDWARD THOMPSON
Navy from age 15, travelling all over the world, then becoming manager of many establishments including Leckhampton House in Cambridge, working with his late wife Mary.
He was a member of the Probus Club.
Then he worked for the Morrison family who owned half the island of Islay in Scotland and then at Kirklevington Hall, a high court lodgings, cooking for all the judges in residence and retiring in 1979.
During the 80s, he wrote his autobiography.
He was the husband of the late Mary and leaves daughter Joyce, son David, son-in-law George, daughter-in-law Eunice, four grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren sister Beryl, nephews and nieces and great-nieces.
His funeral service, conducted by the Rev David Burrow, will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at Longholme Methodist Church at 12.15pm, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40pm.
Family flowers only with donations to RNLI and St Dunstan’s for the Blind.
The family would like to invite everyone back to Rossendale Golf Club.

MEGAN EDWARDS
Janet, grandchildren Katie and husband David, Matthew and his wife Joanna, and Sam and great-grandchild Theo.
She was originally from Crawshawbooth, living in Rawtenstall and moving to Haslingden after her marriage to John.
She was a school cook at St Mary’s Kitchens, Haslingden for several years before becoming cook in charge at St John’s Stonefold from where she retired 30 years ago.
She was a member of St James Parish Church Mother’s Union, a supporter at many church events and was involved with St James’ annual pantomimes.
Megan was also voluntary cook with Haslingden Pensioners, and latterly cooked lunches at Haslingden Baptist Church.
She also helped with the Tea Bar at Rossendale General Hospital.
A keen line dancer, she enjoyed musicals, knitting and watching sports.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 10 with service at St James Parish Church, Haslingden, at 11am followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium officiated by Father Terry Murnane.
