Team lace up for hospice

-

COLLEAGUES at Rossendale council are putting their best feet forward for charity.

The team of seven are preparing for the 10km Great Manchester Run on Sunday, May 28.

Nicknamed ‘The Futures Running Team’, they aim to raise £1,000 for Rossendale Hospice to support its work in the borough. The run is also in memory of a former council worker and keen runner Cathy Lord, who died in 2015.

Administrative assistant Emma Openshaw, said: “It’s been great, it’s much better running with others because they spur you on and it’s a great way to get to know colleagues.”

Chief executive and runner Stuart Sugarman said: “Rossendale Hospice do wonderful work caring for people in our community so it would be fantastic if we could meet our target and perhaps even beat it.”
