‘Adrenaline Valley’ to host mountain bike appetiser
A MOUNTAIN biking event next weekend is set to be the appetiser ahead of this summer’s big Northern Grip festival.
The Hope/PMBA Enduro series Round 2 is set to take over Lee Quarry in Bacup on June 3-4, promising some high octane thrills and spills.
Some 350 racers are set to ride a 23-mile, six-stage course. The main competition will take place on Sunday, with practice rounds taking place on Saturday.
The event will be free for spectators, and for riders organisers are promising “short steep stages and a big loop on bridleways, giving this a real adventure feel.”
Excitement is already building for the Northern Grip festival – an annual celebration of Mountain Bike culture at Lee Quarry and Stubbylee Park on July 8-9. The bike events are helping to forge Rossendale’s reputation as ‘Adrenaline Valley’.
Stuart Sugarman, chief executive of Rossendale council, said: “I’m delighted to see another fantastic mountain bike event coming to the borough – there’s certainly lots going on for fans of adrenaline sports. The Adrenaline Valley is about ‘Adventure for All’ – from families to groups and thrill seeking couples.”
