DEBATE ON BUSES, ALYSON?

-

THESE days I try not to think about how poorly we are governed locally in Rossendale, as it is not good for my blood pressure.

However, I just cannot let Alyson Barnes’ comments regarding the bus station in this week’s edition of the Free Press go unchallenged.

She claims that anyone who opposes her thinking on the bus station et cetera is working to a political agenda.

That is patent nonsense. I have been opposed to the bus station from day one on the grounds that we don’t need a full-blown bus station and that it is a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.

I appreciate Alyson will be busy on national politics until after June 8, but can I, through the pages of the Free Press, throw the gauntlet down to her and ask if she is prepared to debate in public the bus station with me?

I will pay all of the costs associated with organising this meeting and arrange an independent moderator.

Alyson, if you are up for it please let me know via the Free Press when you are available. Clive Balchin Rossendale
