MARJORIE Pickup, of Hardman Avenue, Rawtenstal­l died on Wednesday, May 17, aged 89.

She was a retired slipper worker at Greenbridg­e.

She enjoyed reading, crosswords, baking, music and spending time with her grandchild­ren and family.

She leaves daughter Marilyn, son-in-law Steve, granddaugh­ters Kristy and Tracy and triplets Charlotte, Sophie and Luke, brother-in-law Alec and nieces.

Her funeral will take place on Friday, May 26 at 1pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by David Ireland.

JOHN ADAMSON

spent most of his working life at David Whitehead’s, Rawtenstal­l then on to Loveclough Printworks. Prior to retirement, he worked at John’s Organ shop in Preston and Clayton-le-Moors.

Jack was always gardening. He was also a chorister and organist at St James’ Church in Waterfoot and St Paul’s in Oswaldtwis­tle. He was a member of both churches. He also loved travelling. Husband of the late Ruby, he leaves daughter Janette and son-in-law Brian and was father of the late John.

His funeral will take place on Friday, May 26 at 10.40am at Burnley Crematoriu­m officiated by Rev. Derek Allen. Family flowers only please, with donations to HAPPA.

TERRANCE JACKSON

MR Terrance Jackson, of Sandbay, Weston Super Mare and formerly of Rawtenstal­l, died on Wednesday, May 3, aged 76.

Known to all as Ted or Terry, he was a machine operator at Broadleys.

His hobbies included crosswords, watching films and sitting on the seafront people watching. He married Brenda and had five children Carol, Sandra, Stephen, Linda and Susan. He then married Kathleen and has five stepchildr­en.

His funeral was due to take place on Thursday, May 25 at 10.40am at Burnley Crematoriu­m officiated by Peter Cox. Family flowers only with donations to Rossendale Hospice. Funeral director: Dawn Johnson, Fred Hamers.

MARION ALLEN

MARION Allen (nee Lindsay), of Brennan House, Haslingden died on Monday, May 15 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 75.

Living all her life in Haslingden, she worked in the local cotton mills before becoming a mum and housewife. Whilst she enjoyed gardening, her life really revolved around her children and grandchild­ren, who she loved dearly.

Marion leaves behind her much loved children Jackie, Katie and Anthony and their families.

Her funeral was due to take place on Thursday, May 25 at 3pm with a service of thanksgivi­ng led by Fr John Broadley at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

COLIN RULEMAN

MR Colin Ruleman, of Holcombe Road, Helmshore died on Friday, May 19 at Royal Blackburn, aged 76.

Colin was born in Salford and later moved to Bury.

A butcher from the age of 13, he became proprietor of The Robin Hood, Helmshore 30 years ago up until his retirement 12 years ago.

His funeral will take place on Thursday, June 1 with service and cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11am officiated by Peter Cox.

Husband of the late Audrey, he leaves two sons Mark and Paul, daughters-in-law Maxine and Adrienne, grandchild­ren Jack, Oliver, Darcy and Meredith and his sister Helen.

Colin was a keen cyclist and bird watcher (twitcher).

EMMANUEL BOOTH

MR Emmanuel Booth, of Carter Place, Haslingden, died on Monday, May 22 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 92.

Manuel, as he was known, served in the Royal Air Force during the war as a wireless operator in what was known as the ‘y’ service, intercepti­ng German radio messages for the code breakers at Bletchley Park.

After the war in Europe ended, he was sent to India where he ended his wartime service.

His entire working life was spent at Porritt and Spencer in Haslingden, and when he finally retired, he was the oldest serving employee with the company.

Manuel had been a member of the local Haslingden and Helmshore Brass Band. He also enjoyed motoring and had many happy outings.

He shared his life in recent years with Dorothy, years which he considered to be among the best of his life, enjoying many wonderful holidays together both at home and abroad.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, May 30 with a service at Accrington Crematoriu­m, at 1pm led by David Ireland.

DENNIS SOUTHERN

MR Dennis James Southern died peacefully in Bury Hospice with his family around him, aged 64.

Dennis worked at Tunsteads Needle Felt in Stubbins and later for Greater Manchester Waste.

He was dedicated to his landrovers and loved spending his spare time making and flying model aeroplanes.

He leaves his wife Joan and children Jodi, Paula and James and grandson Otis, his sister Barbara and children and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to the amazing staff at Bury Hospice for being so kind and helpful and making him so comfortabl­e and also thank you to staff at ward 8 at Fairfield Hospital.

His funeral will take place on Friday, June 2 with a service at St Paul’s Church Ramsbottom at 1pm followed by cremation at East Lancs. Crematoriu­m officiated by Rev. Andrew Lintop. Family flowers only please and donations if desired made to Bury Hospice.
