Triathlon challenge
OVER 250 athletes will swim, cycle and run through the Valley for the Rossendale Triathlon this Sunday, May 28.
Organisers hope that great crowds will turn out to support this “fantastic” local event, with many local competitors.
The triathlon, now in its 12th year, will be based at Marl Pits, where athletes will start the gruelling competition from 7.45am.
After a 400m swim, the triathletes will cycle for 21km along Newchurch Road and Burnley Road East as they travel through Water and Lumb. They will climb over Crown Point Road before heading through Dunnockshaw and Loveclough before returning to Marl Pits for a 5km run.
The event, affiliated with the British Triathlon Federation, is now using chip timing technology which organisers say will give competitors a much better experience. More information about the event can be found at rossendaletriclub.co.uk
