TIME TRIP

-

HIS week’s Time-trip takes a look back at a what was happening in the Valley in 2009.

We have snaps of a youngsters’ football club, a dinner theatre performance, the Rossendale Hospice Woman of the Year lunch and a rose planting by a horticultural society.

In our weekly Timetrip feature we publish a set of pictures taken by Rossendale Free Press photographers which appeared in the paper in the 2000s. They can be seen first on our website and are then reprinted in the paper.

Our first picture of the week (above) shows St Mary’s Football Club, Haslingden at Rossendale Hospice fundraiser.

Pictured are, in the front, from left, Kieran Shacleton, 15, John Hardman, 14 and Sheldon Ashworth, 14. At the back, from left, are Michael Pilkington, 14, Nicola McMahon (St Mary’s treasurer), Rossendale Hospice volunteer Pat Haworth and Super Chunx guitarist Andrew Mullaney.

Our next picture (right) shows the cast of Caught in the Net, the Rossendale Player’s annual dinner theatre performance in 2009.

Next (below right) we have a picture of the Rossendale Hospice Woman of the Year lunch.

Pictured are guest, television weather girl Dianne Oxberry (right) with candidates Dawn Taylor, Maria Stansfield and Patricia Dearden.

Finally, our last picture of the week shows Whitworth and Healey Horticultural Society members planting 70 rose bushes in the memorial gardens after receiving a Rossendale Council Pride in the Community award for their environmental work.

If you have any pictures you would like us to feature on this page, send them to us at communities@ menmedia.co.uk or submit them via the Rossendale Free Press Facebook page.
