THE football team from St Veronica’s Roman Catholic Primary School have picked up their third trophy of the season.

The team from the school in Helmshore had already won the Rossendale Trust Tournament and the regional cup final at Accrington Stanley and has now triumphed in the final of the Rossendale School League.

Despite a rocky start to the season, when the St Veronica’s boys lost in the opening fixture, they have now gone on to win every game.

They ended the season with a 6-1 win against Helmshore at St Mary’s School in Rawtenstall.

Ian Harrison, St Veronica’s teaching assistant and football coach, said: “St Veronica’s will hope to add to their trio of trophies when they face Balladen once again in the Rossendale Schools Cup final.

“They should be very proud of their achievements at such a young age.

“The children are a pleasure to coach and have set a shining example for our school family at St Veronica’s.”
