AHigh School celebrate after finishing joint winners of the Lancashire School Games Duathlon trophy SCHOOLS SPORT CATHERINE SMYTH TEAM from Haslingden High School were joint winners of the Lancashire School Games Duathlon trophy.

Students entered com- petitions at Stanley Park in Blackpool where they competed against schools from all over the county.

Eilidh Aindow and Ella Hall competed as a team in the Year 8 duathlon competition with Eilidh coming in second after completing six laps on a bike and Ella completing the running section.

Harry Etchells, 14, had to compete with Year 10s because he was the only individual Year 9 representative from across the county.

He said: “The cycling took it out of me and so I was not as strong in the running as I would have hoped. I came fourth out of six, but all the other competitors were a year older than me.”

Overall the Haslingden team shared the winners’ title with a high school from Chorley and all the competitors were awarded medals.

PE teacher Erika Wilson accompanied the team and said: “I am delighted that we were Lancashire Duathlon joint winners for 2017. Well done everyone.”
