Class act Pierce pens Rams deal

-

TONY CUNNINGHAM A M S B O T TOM United have added to their summer recruitment with the signing of midfielder George Pierce.

The 20-year-old from Bury came through the academy set-up at Bury before moving to take up a scholarship at Blackburn Rovers, before leaving the Ewood Park side at 19.

Pierce played the first 45 minutes of Saturday’s friendly with Haslingden St Mary’s, rattling the crossbar in the process. Rams fans can expect a mobile midfielder with excellent ability on the ball,

“George is a class act,” said Mark Fell.

“He’s superb on the ball and we’ve seen plenty enough of him to know he will more than handle the physicality of the league.

“He was recommended to me by Gareth Seddon who trained with him at Salford when he was younger.

“He fits into our group really well and we’re expecting him to have a very successful Rammy career.”

Pierce becomes the Rams 7th summer acquisition, but was not going to play against his former club on Wednesday due to a pre-arranged holiday!
