AFASHION designer has launched a new brand of couture fairy tale dresses for young girls to wear on special occasions.

Karen Casper and design partner Jennifer Pritchard- Couchman make bespoke ‘occasionwear’ for girls, called Enchanted.

Mother-of-two Karen has lived in Helmshore with her husband, former ‘Class of 92’ Manchester United player Chris Casper, for 14 years.

She says the dresses are for special occasions like weddings and Christenings, but insists that while being aesthetically beautiful, the girls can still have fun while wearing them.

Karen, 41, said: “These are for real girls, and they can have a lot of fun in them, they’re comfortable, wearable but still look beautiful.

“We also add jewels, pearls, 3D embroidery and hand painted flowers and more – anything to make the dresses creative, quirky and beautiful. We just love doing it.”

The dresses are priced from £250 and there are a range to choose from on the company’s website and social media pages, which only launched this week.

A PA for the BBC for ten years, Karen decided to re-train in her 30s.

Jennifer was one of Karen’s tutors while she was completing her foundation degree.

She then went on to do a Bachelors in textiles at Blackburn College.

Karen has since completed a Masters degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, before going on to set up her own separate brand ‘Tulle and Candyfloss’.

She says that she and her design partner love making the dresses crea- tive, quirky and beautiful.

She said: “We are good friends and we just wanted to do something where we could put our talents to the best possible use. Jennifer designs the dresses and I add the accessories and trimmings.

“Fusing Jennifer’s couture dress making expertise and my surface designs we are hopefully creating something special and unique hand crafted in the UK.”
