‘Common sense call’

What you made of the announcement on our Facebook page:

-

JAMES Turner: Looks like Bacup is staying in the 1800s. Embarrassing that people complain about Rawtenstall getting all the funding but when a scheme is introduced which actually would make sense the complaining squad is out in full. Why do you think the town lacks investment? Because there’s no point in it. The fountain might be “heritage” but it’s an eyesore and not exactly the Trevi fountain. People forget that young people are intelligent, we know how the world works and need a say. Hebden Bridge and small towns as such over the border seem to understand. Look at how popular these places are

JOSEPH ShorrockDavey: I’m not saying all elderly people are responsible but it seems the resistance for change has come from the older generation. Town will never improve and continue in a downward spiral without the money being thrown at it. It’s an eyesore, the whole of St James Square, in what could be a nice little area.

HEATHER Charlton: And how much has that farce cost?

PETER Wood: Fantastic news that LCC have confirmed they are producing a revised scheme keeping the Coronation Fountain and roundabout. If the THI had consulted and listened to people years ago so much time and money would not have been wasted on the farces of the shared space and twin mini roundabout schemes and the works could have been completed already.

CHRIS P Bacon: Good, that was a recipe for accidents.

NIGEL Scholes Harper: Thank god for common sense

CLIVE Williamson: Great news

KAREN Parkinson: Good most motorists haven’t a clue how to use them
