Firms called to out­line vi­sion for cen­tre

BUSI­NESSES are be­ing in­vited to set out their vi­sion for Rawten­stall town cen­tre at a spe­cial meet­ing.

Rawten­stall Cham­ber of Com­merce is host­ing a meet­ing on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 7 at 6.30pm at Rawten­stall Cricket Club which will be at­tended by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Rossendale coun­cil, Day Ar­chi­tec­tural and Barn­field Con­struc­tion.

Mem­bers are in­vited to out­line their vi­sion for the town. Cham­ber Pres­i­dent David Gould said: “It’s an un­prece­dented op­por­tu­nity for the ●● The po­lice sta­tion has now been de­mol­ished as part of the Spin­ning Point Rawten­stall town cen­tre de­vel­op­ment busi­ness community in the heart of the cur­rent town cen­tre to have some in­put in the de­sign of the fu­ture town cen­tre. It is, in ef­fect, an op­por­tu­nity to fill in a blank can­vas of, not just what traders want to see in Rawten­stall, but where they feel it would be best lo­cated.”

Rawten­stall Cham­ber of Com­merce cur­rently has close to 100 busi­nesses who are mem­bers of the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

Mr Gould added: “The de­ci­sions that are about to be made are so piv­otal to the fu­ture of Rawten­stall town cen­tre that I re­ally feel it’s im­per­a­tive that all mem­bers should at­tend in per­son.” The po­lice sta­tion and Town Hall ex­ten­sion have so far been de­mol­ished as part of the multi-mil­lion pound re­de­vel­op­ment of the town cen­tre, known as the ‘Spin­ning Point Project’.
