Nadia’s so happy to make grade

OVERALL 74 per cent of the Alder Grange High School students gained grade 4 plus in Maths with 70 per cent of students achieving a grade 4 plus in their English subjects.

Nadia Lisowski, part of the school’s FairPlay trio, achieved one of the new grade 9s in English Language.

Her grades also included As in French and History, a grade 6 in Maths and Bs in Biology and Chemistry.

She said: “I definitely want to go to university ●● after A-Level and study English now. I am so surprised and happy I am shaking.”

Melissa Rose, from Rawtenstal­l, said: “English Literature was one of my worse subjects at mock level, so I am really surprised I managed to achieve a 9! My mum won’t believe it.”

She also gained a grade 8 in Maths, grade 7 in English Language and 4 As in Biology, History, French and PE.

Lois Neild, from Bacup, has ambitions to be a pilot or a coroner after achieving a grade 8 in maths, equivalent to the former A*, and an A* in Chemistry.

Lois said: “I am so happy with my results, I was hoping for grades like this but I really doubted I would actually achieve them.

Deputy head boy Liam Barnes hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an engineer.

Photograph­y enthusiast Liam, from Rawtenstal­l, got an incredible four A*s, two As, one 8 and two 7s.

He will continue at the school for sixth form before pursuing an Engineerin­g apprentice­ship.

Max Hayhurst, was ‘buzzing’ after receiving three As, three Bs and an 8 in maths!

Max, from Rawtenstal­l, plans to continue his studies at the sixth form, studying Physics, Chemistry, Maths and a BTEC in Sport.

Oliver Wilkinson, from Loveclough, was pleased to achieve As in Chemistry, Physics and Statistics and plans to study Computer Science, Maths and Physics.

Delighted Radhiya AlJannah, from Rawtenstal­l, plans to study Biology, Chemistry, Law and Art at A-Level.

Radhiya got an A*, A, four Bs, two 6s and a 5 – including an A* in Product Design and a B in all three Sciences.

She said: “I feel really happy.

“It’s much better than I expected. I’m really pleased.”
