The event at Marl Pits Leisure Club will take place on Saturday, September 23.

Participants can run, jog or walk the four-kilometre circular route which includes ‘ colour stations’ where they will be showered with powdered paint in vibrant colours.

A total of 350 people have already signed up, including a team of 10 called The Real Lancashire Housewives, a group of 16 employees from Rawtenstall dentists Denpoint, and 11 people from Helmshore-based Rossendales Ltd.

Jeanna Hilton, her sister Joanna Durrant, and 20 family members have registered to take part, raising funds for Rossendale Hospice in memory of their mother-in-law Barbara Hilton.

Barbara was cared for by nurses at the hospice in the final weeks of her life, and after the Colour Dash Jeanna and her family will be holding an after-party and barbecue at the Red Lion ●» From left, Bob Holmes, landlord of the Red Lion, Jeanna Hilton and Joanna Durrant pub on Newchurch Road.

There will be a raffle with prizes including use of a BMW for the weekend, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Bob Holmes, the landlord of the Red Lion, said: “Barbara lived just around the corner and was one of our regulars.

“We always used to have a banter about football, she loved going to watch Manchester City with her husband John.”
