RA M S B O T TOM United could move to within one point of Evo-Stik North leaders South Shields as they look to maintain their fine start to the season when they entertain Trafford this evening.

The third-placed Rams have won all three home games so far in their unbeaten start to the campaign, with a 4-2 victory against Glossop North End their latest success.

The Derbyshire outfit started the day ahead of the Rams in the table and manager Mark Fell said the victory was a big boost to the team’s morale.

“It’s a big, big win for us, confidence is high, but we won’t get carried away and we will need to raise our game again against Trafford on Friday,” he said.

“Our second half per- formance was an absolute pleasure to watch.

“It took us a while to adjust to their style, Ben Deegan caused us problems early on as we struggled to deal with the second phase and runners off him, but we made some adjustments and it nullified that, then we came to life.

“There’s no doubt we dominated the second half and when they scored for 2-2 I felt it was unjust, but we once again showed character, heart and determination, Max Hazeldine changed the game from the bench and he scored the third and helped set up the fourth.”

Trafford are without a win five games into the new season, though they have only been beaten once – by Prescot Cables at home.
