Micropub and homes plans approved
APPLICATIONS to create a micropub and build new homes have been approved by council planners.
The separate applications were awarded planning permission at the meeting of Rossendale’s development and control committee.
The new micropub plans for Bury Road in Rawtenstall were approved despite six letters of objection, which cited noise, privacy, traffic and parking, rubbish and vandalism issues in opposition to the plans.
Applicant Mike Jones, of Ramsbottom, has been given the go-ahead to convert the Positive Action for the Community charity offices on the ground floor into the drinking establishment.
He previously told the Free Press that the bar would ‘complement’ existing businesses in the town.
Permission was also granted for a development of two new four-bedroom family homes on land west of the bowling green in Loveclough.
There were four objections.
A decision on plans to convert Edenfield Methodist Church into six two-bedroom flats – which had been recommended for refusal by officers – was deferred.
