Residents vow to fight plans over noise and traffic fears

-

RESIDENTS living near to Rockcliffe House said they will object to plans to turn it into a Bed and Breakfast.

Joe Tancredi, who lives with his partner and their six children on Rockcliffe Villas, fears the business will create extra noise and traffic and claimed it could be used to host stag and hen parties.

He said 14 people in seven homes on the street are against the scheme.

He told the Free Press: “There’s a lot of elderly people who have lived up here for 50 years and myself and my partner have six young children.

“We don’t want this type of business up there because we know it’s going to generate loads of traffic and loads of noise. We are really opposing it. We are a very close-knit community and have all banded together to say we don’t want this and are fighting this. We are not seeing the benefit to our neighbourhood at all. We can’t see it will increase our property value.”

Planning documents sent to the council said the Bed and Breakfast would be used for single or group bookings with last entry onto the site at 11pm. Neighbours will be ‘encouraged’ to call the housekeeper to ‘discuss any impacts’. ●● Residents who are opposing plans to turn Rockcliffe House in Bacup into a bed and breakfast
