Youngsters aim to light up the Valley

-

AMAZING lanterns have been created by Rainbows, Brownies and Guides ahead of the Light Up The Valley parade later this month.

A procession will leave Globe Studios at Toll Bar Mill, Newchurch Road, and wind its way along the river bank in the event in Stacksteads, on Saturday, October 28.

Well attended workshops have been held with schools, adults and in the community to create lanterns for the procession.

Simone Cudworth, a Guider at Newchurch, said in total they had 24 Rainbows, 14 Brownies and 10 Guides making lanterns.

She added: “It was brilliant and they all really enjoyed it. We are going to be carrying the lanterns in the procession and we are looking forward to taking part in the parade.

“The Guides were so engrossed with it that they didn’t want the session to end. The Rainbows got to decorate a rabbit that lead artist Ruth Evans had created.”

Family lantern making sessions will be held at Globe Studios on October 14 and 15, and October 21 and 22.

Stacksteads Countryside Park Group organises the parade, which is managed by the Horse and Bamboo Theatre.
