Fine nine earns Boro boys the title
UNDER 18S BARNOLDSWICK ........... 0 BACUP BOROUGH .......... 9 BACUP wrapped up the autumn league title with a convincing win over previously unbeaten Barnoldswick.
They were set on their way after a long clearance from keeper Adam Stenton left Ryan Lewis one on one with the Barnoldswick keeper, who saved Lewis’s first effort but he could do nothing to prevent the rebound finding the back of the net.
Barnoldswick were reduced to 10 men when Louis Holding put Harrison Leech clear on goal and the last defender in desperately trying to get back hauled Leech down, leaving the referee with little option other than to produce a red card. Lewis got his second of the game with the resulting free kick.
Two became three when Sam Green struck a fine shot from a Leech corner, the keeper did well to parry the shot but Jordan Walker was on hand to slot home.
Bacup made the most of the extra man when Jimmy Bassam flicked on another Leech corner and Walker stole in at the back for his second.
Kian Grogan then made a good tackle to stop a Barnoldswick attack before finding Bassam who in turn found Holding.
His quick pass set Leech free and as the keeper came out he coolly lobbed the ball over him.
Green then made an interception before finding Holding and the move was finished off by Leech for his second.
Stenton then made a good catch before setting Green free.
His strong run saw him advance before finding Kyle Brooks who found Leech and he completed his hat-trick.
A poor goal kick fell straight to Holding and he made no mistake.
The scoring was complete when Bassam fired in a shot from the edge of the box.
