YOUR THEATRE STAR

-

Name:

Henry Farmer.

Hometown:

Haslingden.

Job:

Student at Haslingden High School.

Which theatre company are you involved with?:

Summerseat Players at The Theatre Royal Ramsbottom.

Are you taking part in any productions at the moment?:

Goodnight Mr Tom.

Who is your character in the play?:

Zach.

How long have you been with Summerseat Players?:

I have been with the Youth theatre for a couple of months. My dad has been involved with them for over 25 years. He even took my mum to one of their presentation evenings on their first date.

What do you like about the character you are currently playing?:

He is a complex character. He is extremely flamboyant and fun to play and yet he has a vulnerable side.

What do you most enjoy?:

Bringing the character to life and having the freedom to be over the top with the part.

Have you been in any other productions?:

I was an original cast member of Stephen Daldry’s Billy Elliot the Musical UK and Ireland Tour which also visited Germany for a month. I was privileged to perform in the final show in Hamburg with my best friend.

Who is your favourite actor and why?:

Ewan McGregor because he’s really good at swordfighting. I love swordfighting.

If you could play any part what would it be and why?:

A young Severus Snape because he’s a complex character. I loved Alan Rickman and his interpretation of this character. I found the dry delivery of his lines very funny.

Are you involved in any other projects at the moment?:

I train with RDDC Waterfoot and Ramsbottom and our next big project is the dance and drama festival in February, which is hectic but fun. I am also a member of RDDC Management Agency, so fingers crossed.

What do you most enjoy about doing this?:

The freedom to express yourself through other means. Also making friends – with Billy Elliot, the people I toured with became my family.

Any memorable/funny moments or highlights from this?:

My dad is also in the play, so it has been fun being in it with him – weird but fun. It’s been really fun developing the friendship on stage between William and Zach. William is played by two amazing actors, Joshua Ord and Joshua Parker, and Bob Howell is brilliant as Mr Tom.

Henry stars in Summerseat Players’ production of Goodnight Mr Tom which runs until this Saturday, November 18 at The Theatre Royal, Ramsbottom.
