Rams chasing reinforcements

- JOSEPH CRABTREE

RAMS BOTTOM United manager Mark Fell is expecting to bolster his squad ahead of their visit to league leaders Bamber Bridge.

United’s attacking options will be depleted for the trip to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, as striker Greg Daniels is suspended, after receiving a yellow card in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Altrincham in the FA Trophy.

Fell said: “One of the biggest problems for us is Greg Daniels being suspended, but we are looking to add to the squad before the weekend.”

He added: “There are a couple of options for loan deals, but it’s not always about that at this time of year.

“There are also options through dual registration that we can look at.

“There is a player who we have been looking at for a while who we are looking to sign, so it’s just about keeping our ear to the ground.

“I would expect us to get at least one player in by the weekend.”

Ramsbottom were defeated 1-0 when they hosted Bamber Bridge at the end of September, but Fell was adamant his side should have got something from the match.

“They beat us 1-0 when we played them earlier in the season, but it was not deserved.

“We had a goal ruled offside.

“I’ve watched the video and there’s nothing at all wrong with it.”

United go into the match placed 13th in EvoStik North, following three consecutive defeats in the league, but have shown positive form in the cup competitions.

That included a 4-1 victory over Evo-Stik Premier division side Shaw Lane in the FA Trophy, before being on the wrong end of the same score-line against the highest ranked side in the competition, Altrincham.

Asked what his team’s focus was on Fell said: “On the league. We want to be there in contention to come up at the end of the season.

“We’ve got good money into the football club through the FA Trophy, but we can push on in the league from here.”
