Peters confident lowly Borough can zoom

JACK ADCOCK BRENT Peters insists people should not read too much into Bacup Borough’s current league standing.

Peters is confident his side can still make the play-offs, regardless of the fact they are presently occupying 17th place in the Hallmark Security League First Division table.

Bacup’s position doesn’t tell the full story of the season, however, as Bacup have a large number of games in hand over their rivals due to poor weather.

“Its been typical of a Bacup Borough season,” said Peters. “If you look at the league table, we are five or six games behind most other clubs.

“We haven’t been playing on a regular basis due to the weather and being the third highest ground in the country, were always playing catch up.

“Because we’re behind in our fixtures, I think it’s fair to say our season hasn’t really got going in terms of our consistenc­y. We’re stop start with games and that’s why were behind”.

Despite the weather hampered start, Peters remains confident his side can achieve their aims for the season.

“If we were to win our games in hand and put a good run together then we will be right on the peripheral of the play off places, and that’s what we set as a target at the start of the season.

“That’s exactly what we are striving towards, the play offs.

“Basically, if you work it all out, we are on track for getting to the play-offs providing we don’t suffer to many more defeats and we can get a run together.”
