Hockey star surprises pupils at prize night
ASCHOOL recognised its pupils’ success with a ceremony attended by some very special guests.
All Saints’ Catholic High School, on Haslingden Road in Rawtenstall, held its prize-giving ceremony with guest speaker international hockey player Charlotte Hartley.
Commonwealth and Olympic gold medallist Charlotte, from Burnley, was accompanied by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rossendale, Coun Colin Crawforth and Mrs Denise Crawforth.
Charlotte, now a mentor in schools, shared with the audience the highs and lows of representing Great Britain and England at hockey. Her inspirational story delighted the class of 2017. The students eventually left to the applause that congratulated their many achievements. They were reminded to always live the school motto, ‘Luceat Lux Vestra’ – let your light shine.
