WE DO OUR BEST ON SAFETY

-

IN response to Ian Hey’s letter raising concerns about parking at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School on Lime Road in Haslingden:

I can assure you that school strongly shares the concerns you and the other residents have and would like you to be assured we have done as much as we can possibly are able to do regarding this matter.

We have contacted the council and successfully had the yellow zigzag lines repainted as some parents stated they couldn’t see them clearly.

We have purchased the large yellow ‘Danger! Stopping here can endanger a child’s life’ signs that are put out at the start and end of the school day.

We have, on many occasions over the years, contacted the PCSOs who have attended to monitor the parking.

Finally we remind the parents on a regular basis of the dangers of parking on the pavement and to be considerate to residents by not blocking driveways. This is done via our weekly newsletter and official PTA Facebook page.

Unfortunately, policing the roads and the obstructions caused by cars isn’t something school has any control over.

We will again contact the PCSOs and I strongly urge you to do the same. We are trying to make the environment safe for both the children and the community and look forward to working together to ensure this. Miss D McNicoll Headteacher
