20 homes planned

-

●● Preliminary site plans released by the planning agents for the development in Rawtenstall PLANS have been outlined for a residential development of up to 20 homes at a former community centre site.

The B&E Boys scheme would see the demolition of the former Oakenhead Resource Centre, on Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall.

In a statement, planning agents Hourigan Connolly wrote: “Every council is required by the Government to boost significantly the supply of homes and to make planning decisions in the light of a presumption in favour of sustainable development.

“The site in question is sustainably located in relation to shops and services. There are no technical constraints affecting the land that would prevent development. B&E Boys is aiming to deliver a high quality development of up to 20 homes.”

Lancashire County Council closed the building, which used to host societies including Rossendale Valley Deaf Group, the PHAB club, and Rossendale Talking Newspaper for the Blind, four years ago.

An online consultation ahead of a formal planning application being submitted to Rossendale council concluded last month.
