£1,000 boost to play area
AS C H O O L’ S play area will be improved thanks to a £1,000 funding boost.
The Early Years department of Peel Brow School in Ramsbottom has been boosted by a donation from the East Lancashire Masonic Lodge.
Steve Clark from the lodge visited the school to present the £1,000 cheque and enjoyed a selection of songs performed by the children.
The designated Early Years building houses nursery and reception class children aged three to five, and the money will fund a new outdoor structure featuring children’s character Bob the Builder.
Julie Nelson, department lead said: “Our Early Years pupils love their self-enclosed yard and play area.
“The new structure will complement our existing mud kitchen, climbing frames and is a great boost to the ●● Pupils are already excited that the new addition to the play area will have a Bob the Builder theme outdoor provision at Peel Brow School.
“It is great to see the youngest members of the local community benefit directly from such localised fund- raising.”
Headteacher Danny Mellor said: “We are in the midst of an outdoor playscape upgrade scheme and the gift from the East Lancashire Masonic Lodge allows us to purchase a significant structure that will allow our pupils to have fun whilst learning through play.”
