TWO hundred children from nine of our schools sang their hearts out to raise thousands of pounds for Rossendale Hospice.

The Hearts and Voices charity concert took place at Blackburn Cathedral on February 9.

It was a collaboration of nine school choirs from Crawshawbooth Primary; St Saviour’s Primary School; Tor View Secondary School; St Anne’s CE School, Whitworth Community High School, St Mary’s CE Primary School, Rawtenstall; All Saints Catholic High School; Water Primary School and Britannia County Primary School.

They were joined by the 2nd Rossendale Scout Band and opera singer Sean Ruane.

The event raised more than £ 3,500.

Sam Morris, hospice fundraising manager, said she was grateful for the help of sponsors and volunteers.

She said: “The confidence the children gain from this experience is invaluable and the result was evident in their amazing performance which wowed the whole cathedral. The schools are delighted to be involved in something so special which also benefits the Hospice but without our sponsors, this would not be possible.”

A combined concert at Whitworth Community High School involving the school choir and the Scout Group Band will take place on Wednesday, February 28 at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the concert are £3 and are available from the school. ●● The 2nd Rossendale Scout Band provided music at the event
