Google hit the digital highway

-

THE Rossendale Free Press has teamed up with Google to help our communities to become more digitallyaware and to keep up-to-speed with online innovation and advances.

We feel that everyone, from young to old, should feel part of society as it becomes more and more digitally focused. Our aim is to give everyone the confidence and expertise to fully utilise technology at our fingertips.

Entrepreneurs and businesses across Greater Manchester can get free digital skills training as the Google Digital Garage continues its tour of the region. Tech giant Google has converted a double decker bus into a digital training hub to offer free coaching and advice to help anyone find a job, grow their career, confidence or business.

The bus has already delivered training in Stockport, Cheetham Hill and Rochdale.

The next events are on March 7 at Ashton Town Centre – 9am-5pm; and March 24 at Oldham Library – 9.45am-5pm

Visitors can book in advance or simply drop by for on-the-spot help.

The training ranges from beginner to intermediate levels. Topics covered will include: taking your first steps online, how to build your digital CV and personal brand online and social media strategy.

Ronan Harris, managing director Google UK and Ireland, said: “It’s part of Google’s goal to help 100,000 people in Manchester and across the UK to find a job or grow in their career through digital skills training over the next three years.”
