ROSSENDALE RAMBLERS
ON Wednesday, February 14, 20 walkers endured – and ultimately enjoyed – Arctic blizzard conditions on Scout Moor, returning safely to The Whitaker Café in Rawtenstall for well- earned refreshments.
However, by last Sunday the weather had turned almost spring-like, so 13 ramblers enjoyed a six mile, quite gentle walk from the extensive Witton Country Park in Blackburn.
Thanks in part to these articles, we had four new walkers with us, who were warmly welcomed, and who contributed greatly to the experience for all of us.
A good deal of the walk was rather muddy underfoot, but one of the new walkers philosophically commented “no mud, no lotus”!
So please look out for our next shorter Sunday walk from Whalley on March 18.
If you are very fit and active, you are invited to join us this Sunday, February 25 for a 13.5 mile walk in the Yorkshire Dales, with a little over 2,000 feet of ascent.
Alternatively, on Wednesday, February 28 there is a 10 mile walk from Hurst Green, Lancashire, which will showcase the lovely rolling landscapes around there.
Further details about all of our walks can be found on our website at www. rossendale-ramblers. co.uk, or you can get in touch with us by contacting secretary Glyn on 01706 561042, or at glynbr45@gmail.com.
