Four in for Rams

- TONY CUNNINGHAM

RA MS BOTTOM United have added four new faces to their squad to cope with the large backlog of games between now and the end of the season.

The Rams will have to play at least 17 games in 9 weeks as the British weather played havoc with the winter fixture schedule.

Arriving at the Riverside are forward Sam Madeley, defender Ryan Ellison, midfielder Chinedu Uche and defender Jay Sheridan.

Madeley, the 27 year old former FC United, Macclesfield, Nantwich and Warrington forward arrives on dual registration with Curzon Ashton.

The Manchester based player can be utilised right across the front line and the Rams are hoping he can provide additional fire-power.

Along with Sam, signing on a permanent deal from Clitheroe is Ryan Ellison, a product of the Manchester City and Sunderland academies, at just 21 he already has non league experience with Hyde and Stockport County.

Two more players to arrive are from Oldham Athletic on work experience loans, midfielder Chinedu Uche has been involved in the first team set-up on several occasions at Boundary Park as has counterpart Jay Sheri- dan, a left back, who is the son of former Oldham boss John Sheridan.

“Loan signings that have come to us have done very well, look at Regan Ogle and Josh Askew from last season, and the impact Zehn Mohammed has had,” said Rams boss Mark Fell.

“Sometimes we have to use that market to get us what we need – both these lads are excellent players, I’ve watched them both several times this season and I know they have what it takes to handle the physicality of this league.

“Sam is an established player at this level and he knows some of the lads in the dressing room already so he’ll fit in quickly, he’s an excellent player.

“We’ve a crazy schedule for the next two months and although we’ve no big injury worries, we need to be aware that once the transfer deadline has gone we don’t want to be left short, we expect to have a defender in as well within the week.

“On paper it looks like we’ve used a lot of players, 42 registered I believe, but the core of the team hasn’t really changed. That includes 12 young squad players we’ve only used in the Integro Cup or as cover off the bench, five goalkeepers – three of which have had serious injuries, and five players who have left for improved contracts at another club that we couldn’t match.

“Prescot was a flat display, these three signings bring competition into some areas in which we are light, I want players to fight for the shirt and bring performances that show us all that.

“What the team needs now is everyone’s support and I hope that the supporters will turn out in good numbers to back their team.”
