MR David Holt, of Nelson Street, Britannia died peacefully in Pendleside Hospice on Monday, February 26, aged 75.

David was born in Stackstead­s before moving to Britannia with his late wife Margaret (nee Wilkinson).

In his early David was a member of Stackstead­s Youth Club and played both football and cricket for St Joseph’s, Stackstead­s. David was a retired bricklayer having worked for a number of local companies throughout his life, was an active parishione­r at St Marys RC Church, Bacup and enjoyed socialisin­g with friends and family.

David leaves children Michael, Clare, Angela and Catherine, daughterin-law Pauline, sons-inlaw Mick, David and Mark, grandchild­ren Dannièlle, Jessica, Amy, Jake, Joe, Theo and Freddie, greatgrand­children Milly, Charlie and Grace and sisters Betty, Sheila and Winifred.

A Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, March 8 at 11am at St Mary’s and St Anselm’s RC Church, Bacup followed by an interment in Bacup Cemetery at 12.15pm conducted by Father Frank Thorpe.

Family flowers only with donations in lieu of Pendleside Hospice if so desired. Family welcome you to join them at the Bacup Cricket Club, afterwards.

SHEILA EATOUGH

MRS Sheila Eatough, of Western Court, Stackstead­s, Bacup, died at home, on Wednesday, February 21, aged 85.

Sheila enjoyed needlecraf­t, knitting, bird watching and bowling.

She was a Brownie leader in her late 50s.

She leaves her husband Harry and children Geoffrey, Gillian, Diane and Stephen.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 7, at St Nicholas, Newchurch at 1.45pm, officiated by the Reverend Penny King, followed by cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 3pm.

TERESA WAILES

MRS Teresa Wailes, of Underbank Close, Bacup died peacefully in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Tuesday, February 20, aged 91.

A service will be held at St Mary’s and St Anselm’s RC Church, Bacup on Friday, March 2 at 1pm followed by cremation at Burnley at 2.20pm, conducted by Fr Frank Thorpe.

Born in London she was brought up in Birstall, Yorkshire.

She came to Bacup in the early 1960s to be near to her husband’s workplace.

Teresa worked at St Mary’s RC school and Adam’s Stores in Bacup.

She finally retiredfro­m John Maden and Sons, also in Bacup.

She was a lifelong practising parishione­r at St Mary’s and enjoyed holidays.

But mainly she enjoyed being with her loving family.

Widow of the late Jack, who died in 1981 and mother to the late Andrew, she leaves daughter Gill and her husband John, grandchild­ren Emma and Mark, daughter-in-law Freda, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu to The Elizabeth Foundation a pre-school nursery for deaf children.
