Work has park ‘looking good’
●● Improvements made to the duck pond at Stubbylee Park ONGOING improvements to Stubbylee Park are an example of ‘real partnership working’, according to councillors.
The work forms part of the Stubbylee Park Masterplan which was drawn up by Rossendale Council alongside community groups as a way of improving the park.
Fundraising is still ongoing, with the park’s improvement fund occupying one of the charity token boxes in Tesco which the partnership expects to bring in at least £1,000 to go towards the sunken gardens area.
An update on the park’s improvements was given by Coun Jackie Oakes, ward councillor for Stacksteads, at a recent Bacup Neighbourhood Forum meeting, held at Futures Park.
Coun Oakes told the meeting she was pleased with the progress.
She said: “I honestly think it’s the best park in Rossendale. It’s looking really good.
“It’s all groups local to the park all contributing, it’s going really well - the cafe, I think, has been a massive draw.
“The duck pond, now, is almost finished; and Dawn, one of the gardening team, has done a course on willow weaving and has woven a willow heron to go in it.”
