ROSSENDALE REVEALED
BARRY Hyde, a member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board, takes a look at The Neighbourhood Alert service. THE Neighbourhood Alert service is a free secure online community messaging service that allows authorised administrators to log in and send messages to those in the community who are registered with the service and who have chosen to receive them.
Messages can be send by a number of agencies including the police who, through the service, to inform recipients of crimes such as burglaries and scams in their area that the community need to be aware of in order to react appropriately. The system provides a two-way messaging service that can be accessed through your computer or mobile device, providing a platform for police forces to engage with their local communities via multiple channels including email, text, voice, actual location messaging and social media. The system also identifies the most vulnerable within those communities, with messages being location based and sent to registered groups or individuals, including pictures.
The system also has a survey tool, providing help to the police in gaining a real-time understanding of opinions from any community group or individual, giving them the opportunity to influence decisionmaking. There is also a mobile app, providing registered users with quick and easy access to the latest alerts as well as the ability to access their account settings on the go. It allows you to receive messages based on your location in real-time.
Registering for this service could not be easier, just go to www. neighbourhoodalert.co.uk and click on ‘register now to receive updates’.
