Weather threat to Boro

-

BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters says the poor weather that has hit the area is threatening the future of the club.

Bacup have had a number of games postponedn, including anEaster Monday clash at home to Carlisle City, and Peters admits it’s an issue.

“We were looking forward to a good Bank Holiday gate with increased bar and catering revenue and now nothing. This whole episode is soul destroying,” he said.

“It is not like this is an isolated situation, this has been on going for majority of the football season. As I look out of the club house window over the stadium it is nothing but carnage, this all caused by the extreme weather conditions we have encountered.

“Whilst the entire country have been hit with constant postponements due to the wet conditions, but given our geographical location, one of three highest grounds in the country, situated at the top of an hill, we constantly get a battering. People will say that we will still play those remaining home games and revenue which comes with it, but following postponements this will just not happen.

“Given all these games will come every other night for the final month, people will just pick which games they will attend so we lose out again.

“Given the costs of the officials it goes without saying that some games we’ll not now take enough on the gate to even cover their expenses, this means I personally will have to subsidise this.”
