BUS bosses to monitor performance after criticism of route changes (Passenger fury at bus ‘nightmare’, April 20)

Bev Nixon: How ridiculous is it when you have to leave your house at 4.50am to get an “express” service to Manchester in order to be able to be at work by 7am. That is what my poor hubby has to do since the changes to the x41!!! Transdev really need to rethink this! Eve Tunnicliffe: I’m the same. I now have to leave the house 20mins earlier than I did to get the 6.12am...which has only been on time twice in 2 weeks...to then sit on a bus for an extra 20mins all for the sake of an 5 extra passengers at that time!! They need to put on an EXPRESS service that doesn’t go through Edenfield and Rammy!! Janice Staines: How can they now call it express. It takes that long Geraldine Simister: When I first heard about these changes I emailed Transdev expressing my concerns which have now been proved by all the comments.

I only use the X41 for leisure purposes but I fully sympathise with those who rely on this service for their daily commute.

I will try it once and if my usual 30 minute Saturday morning journey is more than 45 minutes I will not be using it again as it is quicker and often cheaper by car. Transdev should not be surprised by all these comments - they were warned and it was obvious to everybody who actually uses buses that this was going to happen. Mark Lofthouse: My first journey on the new route and the trip through Ramsbottom is ridiculous. I caught this bus in Helmshore 40 minutes ago and we are just on the motorway. I would normally be in the city centre by now. Eve Tunnicliffe: Also just to point out that a weekly pass to Manchester from Ramsbottom is £15. From Haslingden/ Helmshore it’s £36!! How are they justifying that!!? Michelle Pollard: I’ve contacted the bus company about my concerns for the lack of buses and lateness of said services in the Helmshore area and just get told that its early days and that they’ll keep an eye on the situation.

CLOUGH Head Cafe owners hit by burglars again (‘Cafe break-in couple vow to carry on’, April 27) Hazel Bartle: I really hope they left clues to who they are, I am sure someone will know who they are!! Susan Hurrell: So sorry to hear this, it’s a great cafe, keep your chin up guys. Hope they catch whoever did this. X Kath Calvert: Don’t let them get you down. You have worked hard to build up your business and these losers think it is their right to steal from you Steve Chappell: The best pork pies I’ve ever eaten. Yvonne Henry Marlow: Fabulous place, keep going and don’t let the scummbags win. xx Anne Hulme: So sorry to hear this x

THE Lancashire Badger Group has unearthed evidence of ‘barbaric’ badger baiting in Rossendale (‘Valley badger baiting alert’, April 27)

Stuart Crosfield: Seen quite a few dead along the Edenfield bypass, M66, more than should be there.

Some folks are just plain evil. Lorraine Ashworth: Hmm never thought that the deaths could be anything other than traffic accidents. Deb Brown: Lots dead on the bypass recently. I’m dismayed that a peaceful place like Loveclough or Crawshawbooth has such a sinister barbaric side to it! Sarah Ainsworth: I hate badger baiting, it’s gone on locally for years, always warn my son if you see badgers in the area tell no one, in case you tell the wrong person.

TRIBUTES following death of businessman John Crowther (‘Tributes paid to plumbing boss and Rotarian’, April 27)

Joanne Bentley: Deepest sympathy to Ian and the family I saw Mr Crowther most days driving up and down Burnley Road John Lord: Condolences Ian and family, a gentleman John Tattersall: Sad to hear. A real gentleman.
