Praise for battling Borough

-

BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters insists his players deserve credit for continuing to fight despite a difficult season for his side.

Bacup are 19th in the North West Counties First Division table, and have had to play a number of matches in quick succession due to games being postponed because of the weather earlier in the campaign.

With that in mind, Peters has praised his players for never giving up throughout the entire season and battling to the very end.

“It may not be the best of seasons but after fighting against the weather, playing catch up and having to play so many games in a short space of time, these guys have been a real credit,” he said.

“April proved to be a difficult, demanding month due to the remnants of the bad weather we have encountered, and the boys have had nine games in this time where we have managed victories against Stockport, New Mills and promotion chasing Whitchurch Alport.

“There has been highs and lows during this period but given the demands on the players of having to play games with very little rest between days, and given three of the teams we had to play in this time are very much promotion contenders, even in defeat there were more highs than lows from a manager’s perspective.”

Bacup were due to host Prestwich Heys on Thursday, before another home game against FC Oswestry Town this Saturday.
