ROSSENDALE REVEALED
Member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board, Barry Hyde, takes a look at Rossendale’s Got Talent
IT has long been recognised that Rossendale has a wealth of young performing arts talent throughout the valley, but sadly they often do not have the opportunity to show off that talent.
A competition was held in 2009 that was a one-off event that provided such an opportunity.
The Bacup Royal Court Theatre and the organisers of the Rossendale 60s Festival have recognised that, thanks to a number of dance and theatre groups and talent being developed through our excellent schools, that talent is even more prevalent in the valley.
As a consequence, Regina Arkwright of the Bacup Royal Court Theatre and Pete Sweetmore and Barry Hyde, organisers of the Rossendale 60s Festival, are collaborating to stage an event that will provide an opportunity for this wealth of talent to be showcased.
Rossendale’s Got Talent, a talent competition, will be held at Bacup Royal Court Theatre with open auditions taking place on June 4 and 5.
Semi-finals will be held over the weekend of June 15 and 16 with the final taking place on Saturday, June 23.
It is hoped that Rossendale’s Got Talent will become an annual event, but it’s down to you.
So if you have a talent, whether it’s singing, dance, comedy or music why not apply?
The competition is open to all non-professional acts and application forms are available from Regina Arkwright at boxoffice@bacuproyalcourttheatre.com and Gary at Wishes Galore in Bacup.
The deadline for the applications is Friday, May 18, with successful candidates being informed the following week.
