BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters has heaped praise on Matthew Bryan after he won the North West Counties League Division One Player of The Month For April.

impressive performances throughout the month, and Peters was delighted with the efforts that his vice-captain had put in.

“I am really pleased for Matthew. His contribution, consistency and goals throughout the season can best be described as exemplary, and his efforts have now been acknowledged and rewarded by the league,” said Peters.

“Taking everything into consideration throughout the season, and given the amount of Man of the Match performances which is picked by the opposition, Matthew must be favourite to lift the Division One Player of the Year Award.

“Whilst I do not wish to tempt fate, taking everything into consideration, in my opinion there is no one else to touch him. Matthew is a dedicated club man who also devotes his time with the under nines.

“Not only do me and my staff think the world of Matty and the service he has given to this football club over the years, but so do the youngsters that are just starting their way in the game.

“This a fitting award, and the icing on the cake could and should be the League’s Player of the Year, as he most certainly deserves such an honour.

“I am over the moon with all of boys. We had nine games in the month of April, including playing four games in six days against three teams still in a promotion challenge.

“We also had introduction of four boys from our successful under 18’s cup winning squad in Kieran Reece, Oliver Crew, Kyle Brooks, and Louis Holding, and finishing that period with a 50 per cent points return leaves me over the moon.”

Bacup will look to build on the feel good factor that is currently around the club when they are back in action in their final league match of the season this weekend, as they welcome Abbey Hulton United to the Brian Boys West View Stadium on Saturday.
