ATAKEAWAY boss damaged a woman’s Porsche after a dispute with her partner, a court heard.

Hasnat Miah, of Haslingden, ‘kicked’ the high end 4x4 Porsche Cayenne causing a dent to the door panel.

The court was told that before the incident Miah had gotten into a row with its driver Michael Martin, who then smashed the rear window of Miah’s vehicle. The matter had ended up in court after Miah was delivering takeaway food to a works function Mr Martin’s partner Samantha Delaney was at.

The court heard how Miss Delaney recognised him and told Miah ‘you kicked my car’. Miah then replied ‘it was a pleasure’.

Miah, 33, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.

Judge James Clarke said: “I accept there was a degree of provocation.”

ATAKEAWAY worker damaged a woman’s Porsche after a ‘dispute’ with her partner, a court heard.

Hasnat Miah, of Beaconsfield Street, Haslingden, got into a row with Michael Martin on September 25 last year ‘about some windows being fitted’, the hearing was told.

Burnley Magistrates Court heard that Mr Martin had smashed the rear window of Miah’s vehicle and in response the defendant ‘kicked’ the Porsche Cayenne he was driving causing a dent to the door panel.

The vehicle belonged to Mr Martin’s partner Samantha Delaney who reported the incident to police, how- ever the case ‘wasn’t progressed’.

Prosecutor Andrew Robinson told said the defendant also ‘didn’t wish to take any action against Mr Martin for the damage caused to his property’.

The court heard how the incident was ‘all forgotten about’ until January 10 this year during an incident at the Dearden Tea Rooms on Deardengate in Haslingden.

Mr Robinson said Miss Delaney was having a ‘works function’ at the venue when Miah arrived to ‘deliver a takeaway they had ordered’.

The court heard how Miss Delaney recognised him and told Miah ‘ you kicked my car’. Miah then replied ‘it was a pleasure’.

The prosecutor said ‘things began to get heated’ and police were called. The court heard how officers then started to investigate the damage caused to Miss Delaney’s Porsche four months earlier. Mr Robinson said: “It comes about in somewhat an unusual way.”

Miah, 33, told police that he accepted causing damage to the car door after a ‘long-running dispute’.

However Geoff Ireland, defending, said the prose- cution could have ‘ struggled to prove the case’ because the ‘ police don’t appear to have done a particularly good job and don’t take a proper statement from the aggrieved’.

He told the court that Mr Martin had ‘actually smashed a rear screen of the defendant’s vehicle’ before Miah damaged the Porsche.

Miah pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Mr Ireland said: “I think he felt aggrieved that he had to pay £250 when nothing had been done in relation to the damage to his vehicle”. District Judge James Clarke said: “I accept there was a degree of provocation.”
