BACUP first eleven returned to winning ways after a disappoint­ing couple of weeks with a convincing 85-run victory at Rishton.

Batting first Bacup reached 222 for 9 with Tim Farragher scoring an impressive 82.

Matt Schofield (47), Aaron Fielding (31) and Matt Thompson (22) also contribute­d well.

In reply, despite scoring at a healthy run rate, Rishton were bowled out for 137 with Sam Lord being the pick of the bowlers with an excellent 4 for 29 off 11 overs.

Meanwhile, the second team, who have made a good start to the season, disappoint­ed with a 7 wicket loss.

After a poor start, finding themselves at 30 for 4, they rallied to make 144 for 9 thanks mainly to excellent contributi­ons from Jack Bradford (45) and Dom Boardman (31).

Liam Naylor took two early wickets but Rishton 2nds cruised to a seven wicket win thanks to a third wicket partnershi­p of 107 aided by some sloppy Bacup fielding.

The third eleven’s excellent start to the season was ended with a last over defeat in a great game of cricket at Accrington.

Bacup racked up 166 for 9 in their 40 overs with Dom Boardman (62) and Jack Bradford (34) both continuing their good form.

It always looked like it was going to be a close game and so it proved, with Accrington edging home with three balls to spare.

Alam Khan’s spell of 3 for 17 off 8 overs so nearly bringing Bacup the win.

Elsewhere, RAMSBOTTOM’s first team were victorious as they defeated Lowerhouse by 15 runs at Liverpool Road.

Ramsbottom finished on 220-7 at the end of theri 50 overs, with Jon Fielding top scoring with the side with 73. Lowerhouse profession­al Ockert Erasmus scored 97 as he tried to help his team come out on top, but he eventually fell and the team were bowled all out for 205 in response, handing Ramsbottom the win.

RAWTENSTAL­L suffered a defeat at home as they lost by 46 runs against Great Harwood at the Worswick Memorial Ground.

Great Harwood batted first and finished on 2544, with profession­al Ashen Silva scoring an impressive 117 from 119 balls.

Rawtenstal­l profession­al Keegan Petersen tried to lead the fightback as he scored 87, while opener George Bevan scored 46, but the rest of their teammates struggled and the team were bowled all out for 208, meaning Great Harwood picked up the win.

HASLINGDEN were handed an emphatic loss after they were beaten by 194 runs against Burnley at Bentgate.

Burnley batted first and finished on an impressive 332-5, thanks to big scores from Asif Zakir (77), Liam Bedford (58), Chris Holt (54), Joe McCluskie (51) and Qasim Shah (49).

Haslingden never got going in reply, with Graham Knowles top scoring with just 20. It meant the team were bowled all out for 138, with Burnley running out dominant winners.

Accrington were victorious in their game as they managed to defeat Littleboro­ugh by 60 runs at Thorneyhol­me Road.

Accrington batted first but could only make 166 all out, with just Jonathan Hayhurst (51) and Alec Jakeman (47) managing to score more than 11 runs.

It didn’t matter in the end as Littleboro­ugh were poor in their response, with a huge collaspe seeing the team go from 105-5 to 106 all out, handing Accrington the win. ●● Former Enfield opener Liam Bedford was among the runs for Burnley against Haslingden
