Boro celebrate stalwart Brent

-

BACUP Borough Football Club will pay tribute to legendary manager Brent Peters on Monday as they host an event to celebrate his 20 years at the club.

Peters has been in charge of the club for over two decades, with an event now taking place at the Brian Boys West View Stadium to recognise his achievements.

The event is being run by the club in association with Rossendale Hospice and the Sophie Lancaster Foundation with any profits shared between the three. The big day will feature a football tournament with past players and celebrity guest appearances, plus family rides and stalls, along with food and drink. Tickets for the event cost £5.

Peters has been manager of Bacup since September 1997, helping the team to a number of accolades in that time, including North West Counties Second Division League champions in 2003 and League Challenge Cup winners in 1994, 2004 and 2012.

Along with facing daily challenges at all levels running and managing a football club, Peters famously brought in highprofile players such as exMan United star David May, along with the likes of Ben Thornley, Ian Hughes and Dave Felgate.

He is also the only club manager to guide the two Rossendale Valley senior teams (Rossendale United and Bacup Borough FC) to winning the League Challenge Trophy.

The event celebrating Peters’ time at the club takes place at the Brian Boys West View Stadium from 1pm on Monday 28 May.
