MAUREEN Hughes nee Glenholmes died peacefully surrounded by her family at her home, Haslingden Hall on Thursday, June 21.

She lived at Staghills Road and Brandwood prior to her move to Haslingden Hall.

Maureen was a lifelong active parishione­r at St Peter’s RC, Newchurch and was a former employee at J.H Hirst.

Widow of the late Roy, she leaves her four children David and wife Apicha, Karen and husband David, Mark and partner Karen and son Stephen.

A much loved mum and grandma, Maureen also leaves her beloved grandchild­ren Kathryn and husband Paul, Jennifer, Dominic and fiance Samantha, Lorna, Tel, Jade, Martha, and great-granddaugh­ter Emilia.

She also leaves brother Jack and wife Joan, sister Eileen and sisters-in-law Jean and Anne. She was sister to the late Mary, Joan, Alice and Martin.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Peter’s RC Newchurch, on Tuesday, July 10 at 12noon followed by a short service at Burnley Crematoriu­m.

SANDRA OWEN

MRS Sandra Owen, of Prospect Road, Rawtenstal­l died at Manchester Royal Infirmary on Thursday, June 7, aged 68.

She was a slipper machinist working at Fred Tricketts, Rossendale Slippers, Rosebank Slippers, then in retail shops with her husband and then back to Rosebank Slippers to run the family business.

She enjoyed gardening, her dogs Cassie and Lexi and the Lake District.

She leaves husband Stephen, sons Ady and Mark, daughters-in-law Toni and Michaela, granddaugh­ter Kelly, grandson Regan, greatgrand­daughter Amelia, brother Roy and sisters Sharon and Sal and their families, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will take place on Friday, June 29 with a service at 2pm at St James The Less RC Church at Rawtenstal­l followed by cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 3.40pm officiated by Fr. Anthony McBride.

Family flowers only please with donations to RRAR and Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.
