Josh is a Buddie

- TONY CUNNINGHAM

FORMER Ramsbottom United ace Josh Heaton has secured a big money move to Scottish Premier League newcomers St Mirren.

Heaton started his career at Preston North End, but was released in the summer of 2016. His potential was quickly evident when he arrived at the Rams last autumn.

In October last year, he moved on to Ramsbottom United in the EvoStik North, where he made three appearances, scoring twice.

The Quakers had kept their eyes on him, and he soon moved on to join Darlington.

In his ten years at Preston, he also had loan spells at Tamworth and Colne. He then joined Droylsden and Stalybridge Celtic before switching to Bamber Bridge last summer.

He also played for Darlington in pre-season, but a proposed move broke down because of injury.

The Scottish top flight newcomers, nicknamed the Buddies, have now secured his services for £75,000.

The intended pre-season game away at Burscough on July 10th has now been cancelled as the Rams are at home to Chester – managed by former Rams bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley – on that date.

Meanwhile, the club has announced a new partnership with Italian sportswear manufacturer Kappa. The initial oneyear deal will see the first team in brand new designs from Kappa.
