NEW plans unveiled under second phase of £5.4m Spinning Point redevelopment (‘‘World class’ hotel and spa plan aims to pull in tourists’, July 27) Graham Lowthion: Will this development have a huge underground car park Alyson Barnes/ Barnfield? Chris Taylor: Guessing this would be a privately funded hotel and spa facility and not from the council’s tight budget. Can’t see many people thinking this is good news which surprises me, if Rawtenstall is invested in then it will be much easier for the rest of the borough. Nigel Scholes Harper: Wonderful Joanne Cleaver: Judith Leavy, our new hangout x Dave Caldwell: Anybody who’s lived in the Valley has heard this “big plan” tosh so often. Never comes to aught. They should be pushing the Valley for walking holidays. The tops around are wonderful as is down the Irwell. Laura Walden: Fed up with Rawtenstall being first for everything redevelopment wise..and Haslingden last. Yet another beauty spa with swimming pool, and Haslingden no nearer to getting a swimming pool Beverley Moore: It’s about time Rawtenstall paid Haslingden the money back it stole so Haslingden can plan their future on their swimming pool that’s been in desperate need for some years, disgraceful Caroline Sharpe: Fab

DAD’S fury as wall built as part of development without planning consent overhangs his garden (‘Wall has left my garden looking like a prison yard’, July 27) Andy Vaughan: So the point of planning permission is what then if developers can do what they want? Lisa Mack: I would put a climbing wall in and a massive slide and take cash to use it Georgie Ireson: Plant fab coloured plants in it, will look great, and only for the price of plants or cuttings x David Clegg: Plant some creepers on it

COUNCIL writes to minister as opposition mounts against Futures Park travellers site plan (‘1,700 sign up against plan for travellers site outside HQ’, July 27, and ‘Council chiefs ask for travellers site plan to be scrapped’, August 3) Andrew Cahill: If council leaders want this then let’s put it next to or near their properties Wendy Ann Watters: Is the mess that’s been left behind Councillor Barnes’ version of the Council keeping a close eye on things? Richard RG: Can we not have campsites and bring some tourists instead? Kim Mitchell: Hope the powers that be charge them the same as me council tax because they will be using the same facilities as the rest of us! Susanne Marsden: Bacup! What is going on? A town that used to be proud being spoiled over and over again. Phillippa Christie: I’m sure it’s a better idea than offering the market square Janie Britton: No, don’t want it. If it happens guess I’ll be selling up. Peter Franklin: It’s the responsibility of travellers to purchase their own land but not in Bacup Nicola J Longmire: It’s about local residents’ views and issues, not scoring points off each other
