RICHARD HOLDER JOHN HONESS ANN FORD VERA HASTINGS

MR Richard James Holder, of Crag View, Cowpe, Waterfoot, died at home on Tuesday, July 31, aged 73.

He worked in the Royal Navy and was in the Lancashire Constabula­ry Police Force.

He enjoyed golf and bowls and he followed horse racing.

He leaves his wife Gillian and his children Carole, Garry and Lisa.

He was father-in-law of Kath, Stewart and Duncan and also leaves his grandchild­ren Hannah, Jack, Kirstie, Cameron, Ellis, Samuel and their partners.

The funeral, conducted by the Rev Michael Holt, will be held on Friday, August 10, at Burnley Crematoriu­m, at 1.40pm.

MRS Esmie Cain, of Greensnook Lane, Bacup, died peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, July 25, aged 88.

A service was held at Central Methodist Church, Bacup, on Friday, August 3 followed by cremation at Burnley, conducted by the Rev David Burrow.

Born in Ross Cottages, Bacup, she lived all her life in the town and for the past 53 years at Greensnook Lane.

For many years she was employed as a cleaner at Blackthorn School and Thorn School and also worked at Ingham’s Box Works in Waterfoot.

She enjoyed working on her computer making cards etc, cooking and holidays in Scotland.

She leaves her husband of 68 years Jim, daughter Pam and her partner Francis, son Ian and his wife Cynthia, four grandchild­ren, seven great-grandchild­ren, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Donations to Rossendale Hospice and the North West Air Ambulance.

Funeral director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup. MR John Leslie Honess, of Burnley Road, Bacup, died peacefully in Fairfield General Hospital on Wednesday, August 1, aged 69.

A service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Friday, August 17, at 11am, followed by cremation at Burnley conducted by Mr Peter Cox.

Born in Liverpool, he came to live firstly in Stackstead­s moving to Bacup in 1985.

He was an art teacher for many years.

He enjoyed collecting and displaying arts and crafts and enjoyed literature and music.

He leaves daughters Molly, Siobhan and Sam, sister Evelyne, brother-inlaw Richard, his aunt Mabel Croall, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Family flowers only, with donations in lieu to the British Heart Foundation if so desired.

A service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Friday, August 10, at 10.30am, followed by interment in Bacup Cemetery at 11am conducted by the Rev Michael Holt.

Born in Caddington, Bedfordshi­re, she came to live in Bacup in 1973.

She worked in the family business Ford Quarries for many years.

Ann enjoyed baking, her specialty being brownies, shopping, holidays in Egypt and cruising.

She leaves her daughter Kaye and her husband Alan, daughter Donna, son Glenn and his wife Joanne, ten grandchild­ren, six great-grandchild­ren, her ex-husband Gordon and many friends. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to Rossendale Hospice if so desired.

Funeral director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup. MRS Vera Alice Hastings, of Eden Avenue, Edenfield, died on Friday, July 27, aged 91.

She worked at Porritt & Spencer Textiles Stubbins and Chadwick’s Bakery, Ramsbottom as a baker/ confection­er.

Vera’s main passion was baking, but she also enjoyed socialisin­g with her family.

She was wife of the late Stanley Hastings.

She leaves her children Julie, Stephen, Keith, Andrew, Timothy and Kelvin, daughters-in-law Jackie, Gerry, Agnes and Sue; grandchild­ren Rachel, Michelle, Matthew, Lyndsay, Leanne, Connor, Kirsty, Timothy, Christine and Susan, and greatgrand­children Rebekkah, Thomas, Lewis, Naomi, Ava, Jayson, Leah, Ella, Taylor, Lee, Coletia and Alfie.

The funeral service, conducted by minister David Ireland, will be held on Friday, August 10, at 11am, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, followed by a committal.

JOAN WALLER

MRS Joan Waller, of Ilex Mill, Bacup Road, Rawtenstal­l, died at home on Monday, August 6, aged 86.

She was a retired school teacher from St Paul’s Constable Lee.

Joan was an enthusiast­ic member of Longholme Methodist Church for many years.

She enjoyed the services and the many other activities that were held there.

She had a great love of Towneley Park where she would walk and meet friends.

She enjoyed classical music and going out for meals, coffee and cakes and keeping up with the family’s activities.

She leaves her son and daughter-in-law Neil and Denise Waller, daughter and son-in-law Janet and David Allcock, grandson and wife Peter and Natalie, grandson and fiancee Andrew and Lauren, and greatgrand­daughter Georgia.

The funeral service, conducted by the Rev D Burrow, will be held on Thursday, August 16, at Longholme Methodist Church, at 10.30am, followed by cremation at Burnley at 12noon.
