-

WEST Freestyle Martial arts took part in the largest World Kickboxing event the UK has ever seen – the WKO Open World Championships – and came away very successful!

Owner and head coach of West Freestyle Martial Arts, Chris West said: “I couldn’t be happier I’m so proud of every single one of my students, the juniors especially. This event was the biggest World Championships the UK has ever hosted with almost 700 competitors.

“And we, a small club from Rawtenstall, did amazingly well and all my students did themselves and every one so proud.

“We came away with three golds and five silver medals from a team of eight fighters. I would really like to thank our sponsors Morson and everyone who has supported us.”

Elloise Dyson was crowned double world champion in Kickboxing & Boxing, Jadie-Leigh Lord the world champion in Boxing, Nat Leteney the world silver medalist in Points, Sienna-Mae Harris world silver medalist in Kickboxing and Reece Rothwell double world silver medalist in Kickboxing & Boxing.

Wayne Kay, Lilly-Mae Wilson and Stella Dentith all narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in their respective categories.

Anyone interested in taking up kickboxing or boxing for sport or even learn self defence can get in touch with the club to book themselves or their child in for a trial session.
