PICTURE ON OFFER

-

AS an artist I volunteer at Rossendale Hospice doing art therapy which I love, it gives me lots of satisfaction.

My love of art goes back to childhood so I was overwhelmed when the Dave Pearson Trust donated a painting which I have the responsibility to dispose of. Dave Pearson passed away in 2008 following a two-year fight with oesophageal cancer, he painted a series of paintings called Day of the Dead and self portraits in blue and gold just before he died. He taught art in Manchester, was influenced by the great poets and his Byzantium series based on W. B. Yeats work dubbed Rossendale’s answer to Lowry. His house in Haslingden is now the Dave Pearson Trust and open to the public every room is full of amazing work, floor to ceiling canvasses a must see.

Two large pieces of his work are on display at the Whitaker in Rossendale and the donated framed picture is going on display at The Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington.

The Haworth is a wonderful arts and crafts building housing Tiffany glass, artist studios, artist network and restaurant.

Another must visit, the artist network and staff at the Haworth are kindly having a craft fair for the Hospice on September 2 and donating a percentage of profits to the Hospice.

Collectors of Dave Pearson’s work please contact me direct – sandra. ruane@btinternet.com or on 07967 138848 or Rossendale Hospice.

The picture comes with the information on the artist called BYZANTIUM AND BEYOND. Sandra Ruane via email
