FINAL hurdle cleared for £3.5m Rawtenstall bus station.
Julia Crook: A ‘world famous’ hotel and ‘state of the art’ spa twinned with a bus station. £5.4 million forecast for the development and £3.5 million of this is for a bus station. Why not upgrade the surrounding bus stops to make them more aesthetically pleasing then use the surplus from the £3.5 million to repair the roads for bus services and local/visiting road users? Should there have been a public consultation when deciding we as a small town need another bus station? Surely with all the cuts we hear of, this has to be a massive mistake and needs to be reconsidered before more money is wasted.
